Friedrich Engels, born on 28 November 1820 in Barmen, Prussia, was a German author, political theorist and philosopher, most well-known for his monumental work with Karl Marx (1818-1883) “The Communist Manifesto” (1848) and “Das Kapital”. Engels is considered as one of the major contributors to the foundation of modern communism.
Being the eldest son of a wealthy German cotton textile manufacturer, young Frederich dropped out of high school at the age of 17 and was sent by his father to work as a clerk at a commercial house in Bremen. In 1841, after joining the Prussian Army, he was assigned to Berlin where he attended university lectures and published articles in the Rheinische Zeitung, exposing the poor employment and living conditions endured by factory workers...
