A set of nine stamps was issued by the Reichspost on November 5, 1940 to publicize buildings of the Third Reich. By November 1940, Germany was in the second year of the war and Greater Germany was expanding rapidly incorporating conquered countries. In this context the set also depicts buildings from occupied Poland and Czechoslovakia. The surtax was for the Winter Relief Fund with all charities used for the war effort.
